Get me away from words and vice versa. Well, certain words in certain contexts.) Inhibition, packaging. It’s hard of course not to include notions of recursion, embedding and spatial reasoning after gesture, culture and musical aspects, or after still fire, grass, walking upright, groups and eating more protein. I’ll cut and paste from a spontaneous answer just sent to S. ‘At its base, time as in t may be discretely emergent of mechanics - an expression of information as in i - a display of the same to an observer (swimming in or away from entropy in a subsequent system of recurring information, not really in a place where time is expressed. Ie, time within that field doesn’t pass but the way information recurs, collecting itself opposing entropy, makes it seem so – to us.) The human thing was merely to get to relevance: you are not you, so to speak, your pet is not your pet (or your girl friend or husband,) which was used to sort of nudge emotion – which, or equivalent, weaving together representations across time discretely, prompting local negative entropy, are essential to living (that is, systems of integrated information. Many in us, each of us – our genes are less than a third of those in us, again in each of us, as an example – being carried through times yet expressing themselves in the present.)

It’d be pleasant to avoid context in favor of mere physiology and development but I’m not sure that’s possible. The above, if in the right direction, would imply a necessary hierarchical organization of representative systems leading to expression. Ie, it changes both what and how differing systems express themselves – in a terribly complex way – relative to thinking in terms of a singular ‘you’ system, the one that speaks, the one that’s reading this. The one that uses our language and pays a lot of attention to narrative, the one that declares itself conscious. It fits.

You can slice off, for explanatory and parametric purposes, a lot by using a bayesan perspective and language and then more limited concepts like encoding bottom-up/ top-down, in turn implying other stuff like dissonance (but then maybe not as good absolutely at modeling other stuff like entrainment.)
An example top-down would be, say, body integrity disorder or equlivalent, where one of your limbs is not yours. In many patients with lesions, the moment you put a mirror in their face they then change their minds literally in the moment, ‘this limb is mine’: take way the mirror, ‘this limb is that mean guy’s’. But film it and the effect, diminishing but still, lasts a month. In BIID proper, by compare, you get complications tied to developed motivations (emotions) to the point where they’d rather amputate a healthy leg than live with it, or crave union with an amputee. To those people, from their perspective, their actions make sense. Pieces are not encoded correctly enough to be included in the present whole narrative. Chop.
Our verbal language pertains to that present whole narrative. A similar corresponding example to BIID would be colors, for most of us in the west for example greens. I’ll include the circle of greens with a different shade that few manage to identify. We see it – if you then place objects with the same differing shades and ask subjects to choose the one that most resembles the color they still say they don’t see but they’ll choose well beyond chance the correctly shaded object. Still, in the narrative present we don’t see the difference so – chop, like the leg. Words lead to violence. Language packages information into an abstracted singular present we can manipulate, scrunching other times and inhibiting alternative meaning. But, because we evolved such a large abstracted space, it likely allows this rather neat off-shoot of non-lingual expression borrowing and passing through that space, less abstracted, squished synchronies: intentional music. …and love? ‘hold your tongue and let me…’ In words: any expression can at least be partially described as a discrete measure of: how information can have been related, connected, beforehand, of; entanglement, released and recurred into the now.

….so, this is the last ‘old notes’, old electronic notes, I’m going through. Odd coming to their end, that it feels sort of natural. Other old notes will appear in this place, a sort of… central repository, later as scheduled but now this place will slowly, or quickly, ebb into a normal blog of… some kind for people I know. Anyway.
The old digital notes ranged… quite a bit but the same thematics and subjects and in the end sequence of connection do tend to repeat. If abstracted and articulated all the way through…. might be pretty cool, a model of how stuff emerges and from where. That is, after all, what I sort of thought I’d be doing formally from… 8 years ago or so. Man, H., what an obliterating ride (or rides) intervened, from... such people in family, near and distant and what difference they to others, friends, or more true kin. I suppose it’s about time to go back onto that road after straying so long but from an entirely unexpected, different … point of view. (update 2025 - good grief.
